The Loblolly pine, botanically known as Pinus taeda, is a fast-growing, evergreen conifer native to the southeastern United States and widely used for timber, reforestation, and ornamental purposes. It typically grows 60 to 90 feet tall, with a straight trunk and a narrow, rounded crown. The tree features long, slender needles in bundles of three and produces oval, light brown cones that can be 3 to 6 inches long. Pinus taeda is well-adapted to a variety of soils, including poorly drained areas, and thrives in full sun. Its rapid growth and adaptability make it one of the most commercially important pine species in the U.S., as well as a common choice for windbreaks, screens, and naturalized plantings.
